Shoreham Bike Shop News

We have just taken delivery of the lifestyle canvases, they are huge! The slatwall has also arrived so we can start the third and final unit. We also have just erected our new SKS P.O.S. unit from SKS Germany, it looks very swanky and has the latest SKS guards, pumps, tools, trackpumps and saddlebags. The Schwalbe stand is now fully stocked too, I will uload photos when its finished. We have whacked a crazy looking QR code to the front door of the shop. It basically links to this blog, so if you have an iPhone and your passing the store and want to know why there's paint everywhere and how long it will be before we finish you can find out here! ;)

We have an iPad at the showroom to share additional product information with customers, check availability, show them product videos and for sizing. We have also realised that if you have an iphone 4, you can engage in some face to face contact with us at the showroom! Just email us your iphone telephone number and we will contact you at a time that suits you. That way you can explore the shop from the comfort of your home. This is especially useful if you live far from the shop. We have noticed people have been driving up to 2 hours to reach us, so this is a good way of getting our advice and being able to show you items at the same time as chatting. For more details give us a ring: 01273 596368 or email shoreham@mailorderbikes.com

Just noticed that Bikeradar have sent out a message previewing the models that are in the running for the 2012 Road Bike of the Year. If you remember in last year's CyclingPlus publication the Raleigh SP Race came 5th! So this year we are in for an even better chance of winning the title. We have the SP Race in stock at our Shoreham showroom so you can come and see it in the flesh.

Shoreham Cyclelife Recycle All Our Cardboard

Not many people realise that all new bikes are delivered in lots and lots of packaging. Unlike other bike shops we believe in recycling all of our cardboard from bikes delivered to the store. So every week we have our cardboard collected by a local Recycling Company to ensure the card gets re-used again and again...

Refit update...

We are just starting the second coat of the middle unit (that's 2/3rd's of the painting done) oh boy...

The store looks much brighter and we have used the display area to show even more bicycles! The store looks gigantic now! We are debating about whether to have a couch and coffee table, as it seems to be the done thing in most modern bike shops. Same for the old stone faced counter. We will think it through before we go ahead, but we do have plenty of stones so it is dooable. Jack is working all out to get the painting completed in unit 2 this week. Then we can start the tough job of refitting the third and final unit... dun dun durn...

It's going to be interesting as we are determined to stay open for our customers, so we will probably have to complete the job in 4 stages. (one for each wall!) All the lights have been upgraded to the more energy efficient versions, its much better for the environment and gives off a cleaner light (half the wattage too and doesn't need starters). Also the bulbs lasts 3 times longer than standard bulbs, so win win!

Please come and visit the store in 4 weeks when it's completed as we would love to show you the new bikes and accessories we are getting delivered each week. Some are already on display and the others are waiting to be built. We are still open 7 days a week so come on down anytime to pay us a visit.

Kind regards Shoreham Cyclelife Team

Raleigh & Diamondback 2012 Delivery

We have just had another shipment of Raleigh & Diamondback 2012 models delivered. Also new Schwalbe 2012 tyres have also arrived including the Marathon Plus (26" and 700 x 35c), Tabletop, Fat Alberts and lots more!

We have also had the new 2012 Raleigh and Diamondback catalogues delivered. Get yours quick! We will be keeping them under the counter as they usually all go within a week. So come on down and request a brochure. There are 2012 DB Mtb and Bmx specific catalogues and a few Raleigh 2012 road bike brochures. Please note we cannot post catalogues out so please get on your bike and come down to our Shoreham Bike Store!

Shoreham bike shop refit marathon continues...

We have finally moved into the middle unit and have scrapped all the metal panels. The walls and ceiling are being prepped for painting and we have re-opened a doorway to make way for the much needed changing room! I expect the painting for the centre unit to be completed pretty quickly. Then all we will have to do is the third and final unit and the flooring! It's very exciting seeing the end unit completed and looking swish, just waiting on our P.O.S. and canvas artwork. We will of course post photos once the store refit has been completed, and if you are a little impatient please pop down to the store for a nosey around. We have had the full Raleigh e-bike range delivered (and they are now all built and ready to view). The 2012 road bikes have been built (all except the Raleigh Team bike, we will build that once the middle unit has been decorated).

Someone came into the shop on Sunday and asked how long we had been a bike shop in Shoreham. Well we have actually been in Shoreham since 1980!! That's 3 years before i was born (do the maths, i'm really not that old!). We have found some interesting bicycle related artefacts whilst doing the refit including a raunchy Sturmey Archer Nottingham poster (yes i did say raunchy), some old Puch bike posters and a couple of Brooks saddle catalogues. Unfortunately they were all too fragile and crinkled to keep, but it was interesting finding them. We are debating about what bits and bobs we can display as we have a huge collection of puncture repair kits (over a 1000 different ones last count) and old bicycle oil lamps, puncture repair kit dispensers and all sorts of interesting odds and sods that have been collected over the years. I will probably leave it all boxed and try to sort a display stand or something once the store refit has been completed.

Thank you to all our customers for your support over the refit, we appreciate your custom and you are always welcome to come and see how the refit is going.

Kind regards Richard
