Shoreham Bike Store Refit Update
We have had the confirmation from Simon at Thrower Signs for the delivery of the new signage and a rough date for starting work (weather permitting). Should have it all done within 10 days! Watch this space for photos of the new fascia panels and signage. We have used Simon from Thrower Signs Surrey on many of our store refits. He is a complete perfectionist and we can't wait to see the finished article. If you are ever looking for a new shop sign, please contact him for a quotation.

We have written a short leaflet to give you some basic information about bike gears. We will be adding to it and fine tuning it over time, so please contact us with any suggested additions you would like. Please visit our bike store in Shoreham for your FREE copy.
Text Message ALERTS for Bike Servicing
We can text you a reminder to get your bike serviced at Cyclelife Shoreham using our new Text Marketer account. We won't inundate you with messages, just a 12 month service offer and maybe a seasonal offer or two! We decided to dabble with this after reading an article in Bikebiz magazine and from the service texts we receive from Frost's Cars and Dominoes Pizza! So next time you bring a bike in for a service we can take your details and put you in our text calendar. Yet another thing you don't have to remember for next year!

New Bike? Things to Remember
Here is some advice for our new bike customers to ensure they have the best riding experience!
1. Don't lean the bike against the pedals or gears. If possible buy a kickstand!
2. Come back for your first service between 2-12 weeks of buying the bike, please note parts are not included and compulsory wash and lube applies.
3. Riding at night, dusk or dawn? Get kitted out with some lights & reflectives!
4. All weather cyclist? Mudguards are essential, so are gloves and cycle jackets.
5. Helmets are not compulsory but we do advise you invest in one.
6. You are more likely to receive an eye injury whilst cycling than a head injury, buy some cycle glasses and be on the safe side.
7. Don't get your bike stolen! Ask us to Security Code your bike and invest in a heavy duty lock.
8. Need somewhere to put your picnic, briefcase or handbag? Luggage carriers can be fitted to almost all bikes, or go for a basket or handlebar bag.
9. Carry the essentials with you at all times: PUMP, PUNCTURE REPAIR KIT, SPARE TUBE, SPANNER, ALLEN KEYS. Use a saddlebag to store them in if necessary.
10. Keep hydrated, carry a water bottle or hydration backpack.
11. Always transport your bike safely in your vehicle (with gears facing upwards) or even better, use a car rack.
12. Sports nutrition – doing a longer than normal journey? Participating in a race? Ask our staff for some free sports nutrition advice.
13. Keep tyre pressures up to ensure longer lasting tyres, safer riding and less effort. Speak to a member of staff about recommended tyre pressures for your particular bike.
14. Sore bum? Upgrade to a gel saddle or use a gel saddle cover to reduce the pressure points when sitting.
15. Need higher handlebars? Speak to a member of staff about raising your handlebars or handlebar raiser extensions.
16. Puncture proofing your bike can reduce the risk of punctures ruining your ride! We have puncture resistant tyres, tubes or special Slime puncture preventative liquid. Ask us for details!
17. Bike storage is important to ensure your bike lasts as long as possible. So invest in a bike cover or handy shed storage rack to keep the bike away from the elements.
18. Come into the store for your 6 month and 12 month Aftercare Services! Just pay parts and wash and lube.
19. Before riding you should check the bike to ensure the wheels run smoothly, the accessories are all fitted tightly and the bike is safe to ride. This only takes a few minutes but can make the whole riding experiencece much more enjoyable as you can sort out problems before they occur not during the ride!
20. Keep your bike clean and well oiled, we have bike specific chain cleaning tools, degreasers and lubricants. We recommend you Do NOT use WD40 we have better bike specific alternatives!
